PART II - OPERATION

SECTION 13 - TREATMENT OF NEW ENGINE

Careful treatment of a new engine prolongs its life. Each AERONCA engine is "run in" approximately seven hours at the factory, after it has been assembled, and during the next 30 hours the engine should be run very carefully. During this period the engine should not be run at full throttle any longer than is absolutely necessary and sudden accelerations should be avoided. It is advisable to use a top cylinder lubricant in the gasoline during this period. Continued use of this top cylinder lubricant is desirable in keeping the engine in good shape. (See remarks in Section 6, Part 11 - OPERATION) These measure, together with careful attention to maintaining the proper oil pressure and frequent change of oil will result in polishing of all moving parts so that long and trouble-free service will be obtained.

"The first 30 hours of service are the most important in the life of an engine."
