E-113 Aeronca Engine - Letter Designations

The Aeronca E-113 series engines had many letter designations as efforts were made
to improve the engine over the years.

Exposed rocker arms with integral
head and cylinder. |
| E-113 A |
Covered rocker boxes, head
removable from cylinder, and roller rod to crank bearings. |
| E-113 B |
Same as E-113A, except had needle
rod to crank bearings and Cuno oil filter. |
| E-113 C |
Same as E-113 A & B engines,
except had plain insert type rod to crank bearings, and Cuno oil filter was deleted. |
| E-113 CD |
Same as E-113 C, but with Dual
ignition. |
| E-113 CBD |
Same as E-113 CD, except Cam
follower blocks used on exhaust cam followers. Engines from E-113 A could be reworked for
an overhead oiling option,.and splined instead of tapered crankshafts, These were log book
entries only The engine letter designations did not changed. |
