AERONCA Memo M-36

 

               SERVICE BULLETIN WITH REFERENCE TO MEMO 36
              To distributors, dealers and all owners of
              E-113C, E-113CD, E-113CB, and E-113CBD Engines
                    Also E-113, E-113A, and E-113B
     As owners of any of the above listed AERONCA engines, you no doubt
have received buttetins from us at different times referring to difficulties
that have been reported to us regarding the front or tapered portion
of the crankshafts.
     We have, therefor, in good faith of Aeronca owners and products,
recently developed an improved type assembly, primarily designed to
overcome any of the prvious report difficulties.
     In the following paragraphs is a brief expanation of the new
assembly, along with our plan for making there units available to our
customers at the lowest possible price and time loss.
     This unit consists of the remachining of the crankshaft by adding a
splinded end, a new type propeller hub, heavier thurst bearings and plate
and the factory installation of the unit and its subsidiary parts as
outlined, into the lower portion of the engine.
     We are certain that the modernizing will shortly be accepted 
practice and will not only increase the future resale value of your
present unit, but at the same time definitely improves the structural
design of the part mentioned.
     Following are the terms regarding modernizing as outlined;
1. Engine less cylinder assmeblies to be shipped transportation prepaid
in a crate or box, capable of withstanding return shipment, to Aeronautical
Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio.
2. Our workk to consist of the remachining of your crankshaft assembly and
the installation of the complete modernizing unit as outlined and the
replacing of said remachined crankshaft into owner's crankcase.
3. Any other labor or parts replacement required in the nature of repairs
wilbe handled strickly on the time and materials basis.
4.  Crankshafts received which cannot be reworked due to extreme wear or
unusual damage will be subject to additional charge of a new shaft,
notification to be furnished owner before proceudre of any repairs will
be made.
5.  Complete and corect logged time entered in the log books must accompany
each unit being sent in for modernizing as an AC 18-01 form will be requried
for this alteration.
6. The net price to ditributors, dealers, and owners wishing to take
immediate advantage of this alteration is $40.00 net on the basis outlined.
