AERONCA Memo M-35

July, 1939 M-35
MEMORANDUM TO OWNERS OF AERONCA AIRPLANES
Subject: Interference of cable guard with operation of rudder pedals.
It has been called to our attention that several operations have
experienced difficulty with the rudder pedal fowling on the cable guard, which
is located on the floor between the pilot and passenger's rudder pedals.
In order to avoid this interference, the rudder cables should be rigged so
they will not allow the pedal top cross bar to move ahead of the cable guard
when full rudder is applied.
In order to minimize the chance of the cable guard interferring with the
operation of the rudder pedals, the forward end of the cable guard should be
bent in at an angle so that the pedal will ride off of the guard if the pedal
contacts the forward end of the guard.
We recently have revised the cable guard to eliminate any change of this
interference on airplanes after serial number 3949.
