AERONCA Memo M-27

December, 1937 AERONCA AIRCRAFT CORPORATION M-27
                              MIDDLETOWN, OHIO
MEMORANDUM TO OWNERS OF AERONCA K AND KC DESIRING
         TO INSTALL SKIS
SUBJECT: - SKI INSTALLATIONS
When installing skis on the subject model airplanes the following
location of ski pedestal is recommended.
MODEL K
In order to reduce the bending in the landing gear structure on this
model the ski tread should be narrowed. This can be done by installing
the pedestal on the axel in the location shown below:

MODEL KC
Due to the different type of construction of the model KC landng gear
compared with the Model K, the ski tread should be kept the same as
the wheel tread to minimize the bending in the streamline axle strut. Ski
installations may be made in gears with the straight and tapered axles.
It is necessary to replace the streamline axle strut with a heavier
strut. The new part numbers are listed below:

            3-43 - Staight axle type
            3-44 - Tapered axle type
The above ski installations are based on the Federal Avation Works -
Minneapolis, Minnesota Skis - their model SA-1.
