About Aeronca.com

The primary purpose of this website is to provide a long-term, relatively static source of information on restoring, maintaining, and flying Aeronca airplanes.  This information within this website is gathered from the private collections and minds of many individuals.  My sole objective is to capture this information for future generations. It is very possible that these 60 year old airplanes will still be around for another 60 years, while many of use will not.  It is not unreasonable to think that somebody not even born yet, will be referencing the information within these pages to fly, restore, and maintain their Aeronca.

For years I've wanted to create an Aeronca-only website that provided loads of detailed information to Aeronca enthusiast who are flying, restoring, or repairing these old airplanes.  In 1996 I obtained the domain name of Aeronca.com and started documenting everything about the Aeronca K.  (I grew up with the K, as my father has owned one for as long as I can remember.)  In 1998 I created the website for the National Aeronca Association, with the dreams of making it the website for all-things-Aeronca.  However, that website did not work out as expected.

Inspired by the Fearless Aeronca Aviatiors e-mail list, I decided I should try again to collect technical Aeronca information into one static location.  The f-AA is an excellent source for getting technical information to your questions since there are so many experienced members on the list.  However, the f-AA email archive is a awkward way to find answers to previously asked questions.  Sparked by a request from one of the f-AA members to post copies of 337s into one location I knew it was my time to start this website.   So I moved my Aeronca K information onto a subweb and redesigned Aeronca.com to be a static collection of knowledge, experience, and detailed information from the minds, bodies and personal collections of any Aeronca person who wants to contribute.

This website is meant to supplement the f-AA email list, thus Aeronca.com will not have a discussion group or email list, since the f-AA does an excellent job of providing this dynamic and social interaction.

Although I have no intention to make any profit from this website, I don't mind attempting to break even, since operating this website does have some costs.  It requires cash to pay a few bills and a lot of time.   I could use a little help with both.  I feel uncomfortable even mentioning it, because I don't want any appearance or suggestion that financial gains are my motivation for this website.  This is purely for the love of it.   I may someday grow tired of this volunteer work, as I expect I will, but by then I hope the assembled collection of information will be useful to future generations.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, feel free to contact me.
