AERONCA Memo M-24

10-20-37 M-24

MEMORANDUM TO OWNERS OF AERONCA MODEL K
SUBJECT: RUDDER CABLES
It is advisable to take up the stretch on the rudder cables

of the subject model airplane from time to time. If the airplane

is equipped with brakes it is possible for the left rudder pedal

to travel far enough forward so that the projecting portion of the

brake pedal strikes the aileron pulley located on the lower left

longeron. If the rudder cables are properly adjusted this condition

does not exist.
To adjust the rudder pedals remove the metal guard which is

located on the floorboard. The rudder cables will then be exposed.

The pedals can be adjusted to a more rearward position by means of

the holes in the adjusting plates between the ends of the cables

and the arms on the pedal assemblies. If it is necessary to move

the bolts more than one hole it is advisable to invert the adjusting

plates to prevent them from striking the flange on the pedal

assembly arm. Adjust the cables so that there is at least 1/2 inch
clearance between the brake pedal and the pulley when maximum left

rudder is applied.
